wednesday. rescue crews freed a woman. hamas says the casualties are mounting. israeli military officials say on sunday they targeted homes of suspected militants and hamas communication centers. they say israel is prepared to expand its operations. the troops are staging along the boarder for a ground invasion. but cease-fire negotiations are under way. president barack obama says avoiding a ground assault is preferrable but israel has a right to defend itself. >> there is no country on earth that would tolerate this. >> reporter: officials say they will end attacks on gaza if hamas agrees to stop launching rockets into israel but warning sirens continue to go off across israel. the israeli military says the

tour. police officers still search for a second gunman. 26-year-old jonathan wilbanks was caught friday night after a chase after he and a gunman exchanged fire. one officer was hurt in the gunfire. the police are asking for the public's help in identifying the other gunman. the police say the two men are linked to four robberies and a homicide outside of san jose 7/11 store on friday. we have a reporter on the story and we will bring you full details tonight at 6:30. the authorities are trying to identify a body identified in san francisco bay. the u.s. coast guard found a body of a man near 40 baker just before 8:00. they are trying to see if they fit any description of any missing person's reports in the area. well, a fraud alert in the east bay tonight. the police are warning of a popular phone scam. people say they are getting calls from someone requesting

money for a relative. the caller says their grand child was arrest inside peru and needs money for bail and asked for it to be wired. the police say people should make sure they know where their relatives are before sending any money anywhere. san francisco may be getting ready to shed the image as where anything goes including clothing. city lawmakers are scheduled to vote on tuesday on an ordinance that would ban nudity in most public places. it would make it illegal for any older than five to expose themselves. exceptions are made for street fairs and parades. the bay area marks a grim anniversary today. november 18th, 1978 congressman leo ryan and four others were kill inside jones town by members of the people's temple. he was there to investigate complaints by the temple by concerned family members. the killings were followed by a

mass murder and suicide by nine12 temple members. today as every year, family members of the victims attended a memorial service in oakland. they were there not only to remember but to protest. [singing] this memorial service began with a covering in the cemetery. something this family calls the plaque of shame. >> it is horrific. >> we lived this tragedy. >> among the names of the 1,000 people who died here in 1978 is the man deemed responsible, jim jones, who ran this colony. many of his followers were from the bay area, 27 were family members were of wynona. >> he comes to a scheme that he

will take them all to the promise land. they believe today. >> reporter: 34 years ago he cited what was a mass suicide, a mass murder. they shunned him by then, ed was 8 years old and lost 8 close cousins that day. >> they went there following their parents thinks all of our dreams will come to pass in this paradise in the middle of a jungle somehow. so, i am really big on pushing people and myself and my children to strive for your dreams. >> reporter: the family is in the middle of a legal cite trying to build a new memorial to replace this one. hoping to have it done by the 35th anniversary next year. [singing] >> reporter: the crowd at the annual memorial has been dwindling. today, only a dozen people came to pay respects. >> most of us were not born at that time. it is important we know our american history so we don't repeat this. >> in oakland, cbs 5.

tomorrow. the national arts and humanities youth program award is similiar to a lifee achievement aw first lady, michelle obama will honor youth radio. the youth program award is similar to a lifetime achievement award. youth radio teaches students about the medium and issues important to our society. in this production young adults share their thoughts on why they voted for president barack obama. a reunion six decades in the making and in time for thanksgiving. a bay area mother was able to

track down her son after six decades. >> i am just thankful. >> reporter: at mission harvest christian church in san jose, a largely filipino congregation is together. >> i wanted them to have hope because of what happen inside my own life. >> reporter: it is a story almost too good to be tree. bringing tears. >> very scared, having my first baby. -- >> how old were you? >> i was 23 years old. >> reporter: that was 63 years oeg. she was pregnant and had to -- ago. she was pregnant and had to give up the baby for adoption. she kept it secret until a discussion about it made her confess to her daughter. >> mom, you want to see him? >> i said, yes, of course i want to see him. i waited all of this time. >> reporter: after a search they found him and sent him a certified letter telling them

he wanted to meet him. he did not believe the letters at first. >> i read a few lines and -- she said i am your mother. and i was overwhelmed. >> reporter: they started talking on the phone, sometimes for three to four hours, finally, she asked for pictures. >> i told mom i can do one better. i'm coming out to see you. >> reporter: standing next to each other in line with a full thanksgiving spread that is a new friend with an old bond. >> the best thanksgiving ever. that i ever had. >> yeah. me, too. >> after 63 years. 200130 miles this is her -- 2,130 miles, their first thanksgiving in this church but hopefully not their last, back to you. >> well, it is news just about everyone wants to hear. twinkies may live up to their shelf life after all. what could happen tomorrow that could keep them on store

whales. it brought rain, hail, no damage was reported. all right, we are keeping a close eye on the forecast. a lot of people will be traveling. >> it looks unsettled this entire week. good evening, everybody. first, let's take a look at how our highs are across the bay. butched up around 58 degrees and 65 degrees in oakland. so, these temperatures are averaging 3-5 degrees below normal for the most part but for san francisco at 62. it is spot on for this time of the year. the current air temperature, city by the bay. sanfrancisco, middle 50s in santa rosa. this is the scene out towards sap jose. cloudy sky, the winds are flat out of the southwest at 3 miles an hour. what you need to know, mostly cloudy tonight. areas of fog developing, especially in the north bay in the inland areas. fog and chowd for your monday. rain returns. we will share that outlook with

you tonight overnight over -- any -- overnight. anywhere around 42 degrees. back in the valley. impressive area of low pressure, that is number 2 from yesterday. dumped over half an inch of rain in many of our locations in the overnight hours. on the backside of it, air mass that wants to bring a few showers in the far eaches of the north bay. you will see it right there. as far as your future cast is concerned we are dry on monday. then, here comes the leading edge of precipitation, it hangs out, all day long, right there. then, bam, by wednesday morning the big get away day we will have rain. you will need that umbrella. give yourself time to get you to your destination. meanwhile, how is all of this for the 49er, monday night football change? it doesn't t. it is football weather. tomorrow, it looks like statewide, middle 60s, clouds in the central valley. rain across the north western section of the state.

the snow has stopped after 20 inches reported at kirkwood. number wise, cloud cover, 60s at the beaches. all of numbers are bunched up. i will go through it rapidly. 62. 66 degrees in antioch. low 60s for the most part around the walnut creek area as well to the north and san rafael. the bay temperatures, 63 to 65 degrees. get a good look at this forecast. we do have mostly cloudy skies on monday. tuesday, there is a chance of rain developing early in the afternoon hours through the evening. but, that is in the north bay. more likely rain is in the forecast for wednesday. it does turn dry, not your turkey but dry on thursday. partly sunny on friday and then we gather the clouds back up. i went to the car wash and the guys were jumping up and down. when the weather girl shows up at the car wash it is all good, right?
